WALLS AND DOTS AND STOPPING TERROR

It's often said that in today's interconnected/globalized world you cannot build a wall to keep all the bad guys out.

And you cannot possibly have good enough intel' to learn about every single plot. Or to always connect the dots in time.

So, there are bound to be a few successful plots or near successful ones.

But framing the problem this way is intrinsically defeatist - nay self-defeating.

It makes the perfect the enemy of the good.

If better intel' and some big impenetrable walls - and even profiling - could make it tougher for the enemy to stage a successful attack, mustn't we deploy them!?

YES.

Not to do so is dereliction of duty.

Allow me to put it this way:

If - way back in WW1 - you had an anti-rocket system which was only 80% effective, and could only stop 80% of the incoming bombs, would you deploy it!?

YOU DAMN BETCHYA. You'd save many MANY lives and limbs. Not all, but some. So you do it.

SO... this means a few things: we MUST deploy NMD as fast as we can and in as many key areas as we can EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT 100% EFFECTIVE.

And it means we MUST start profiling.

And it means we MUST build a physical wall on our border with Mexico - and insist that the EU stop whining about Israel's wall with Gaza and the West Bank.

And I don't wanna hear one effin word about how profiling MUSLIMS and ARABS and PAKISTANIS (for starters) is racist and unfairly smears them.

WHAT SMEARS THEM IS THE TERROR, NOT THE ANTI-TERROR.

IF THEY WANT TO BE FREE OF SUSPICION THEN THEY SHOULD DO MORE TO COMBAT THE TERRORISTS IN THEIR OWN LANDS.

If Obama doesn't get serious about protecting us, then he should be impeached.
