SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE AND CIVIL RIGHTS WERE ALL BI-PARTISAN: THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS SCOOPS NEWSBUSTERS, JON KYL AND JIM LEHRER

NEWSBUSTERS TODAY - THURSDAY:
PBS's Jim Lehrer on Tuesday wrongly accused Republicans of always being against major social legislation in this country including the Civil Rights Act, Social Security, and Medicare.

"[T]hrough history, recent history in particular, Republicans have opposed things like Social Security, Medicare, even civil rights legislation, but then, once they lost, they took some deep breaths and moved on, and then finally ended up embracing many of these major changes in -- in laws and in the way we do business here," the News Hour host amazingly said to his guest Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.).

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth, and Kyl quickly corrected Lehrer.

THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS ON TUESDAY:

In 1935 - the 74th congress - the US Senate had 69 Dems and 31 GOP’ers, so nearly 50% of the GOP was with the Soc Sec legislation. The House Had Democrats 322 and Republicans 103. So nearly 80% of the GOP in the House voted for the legislation.

In the 89th Congress - in 1965 - the Senate had 33 GOP’ers, so 33% voted for the Medicare legislation. The House had 136 GOP’ers so about 48% voted for it.

Civil Rights legislation had very high GOP %, too.

They were all bi-partisan. As was NAFTA - another huge piece of legislation.

Obamacare gets a big fat 0% of the GOP - and this says EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OBAMA.

INSTEAD OF BEHAVING LIKE THE POST-PARTISAN HE CLAIMED HE WAS DURING THE CAMPAIGN, AND CRAFTING POST-PARTISAN REFORM BILL, HE AND PELOSI AND REID RAMMED THROUGH A SOCIALIST BOONDOGGLE.

NOT ONLY DID OBAMA DISREGARD ANY POSSIBILITY OF BIPARTISANSHIP, HE ALSO IGNORED THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

INCREDIBLY: OBAMA AND REID AND PELOSI AND RAHM DID THIS AFTER THE ELECTION OF SCOTT BROWN.
REGULAR READERS KNOW WE SCOOP ALL THE BIGGIES ALL THE TIME.,

SPREAD THE WORD.
