Elaine's (above) was a GREAT place - along with the Old Town Bar, it was one of my favorite bars.

RIP ELAINE.

BTW: I think that ALL the best bars have either a red wall behind the bar - or at least it's the darkest or warmest in the room.

AND ANOTHER THING: dontchya just love a bar!? I mean... to walk into a room with all those bottles lined up on one side... so many flavors and so little time...
