WIKILEAKS: IN 2008, KING OF BAHRAIN WARNED USA: IRAN, HIZBALLAH AND SYRIA BEHIND UNREST

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa had warned senior US military officials that opposition groups in his country were receiving training from Iran-backed Hizbollah in Lebanon, the whistleblower website Wikileaks has revealed.

King Hamad had also said that Syria was "complicit" in the training by providing the Bahrainis with false passports, The Telegraph reports.

He had reportedly made his claims during a meeting with General David Petraeus, the then commander of the allied forces in Iraq, on July 30, 2008.
