President Obama said the whole "birther" controversy was a distraction from other more important things. That's just the way he wanted it.
Bob Mack, the webmaster of Be Sure You're RIGHT, Then Go Ahead has and excellent post today, with pointed commentary, about Obama's incompetence and concludes his post with the following statement:

Are Bill Clinton's words indicative of a coming rift in the Democratic Party as the prices of petroleum and petroleum products and the cost of goods in general soar to the moon?
In any case, Clinton's words reflect what every sensible American knows: Obama isn't looking out for American interests. On Friday, March 11, 2011, Obama absurdly blamed the oil companies here in the United States for not drilling.
...We all understand why the EPA was given the power to issue regulations to guard against oil spills, such as that of the Exxon Valdez in Alaska or the more recent BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. But not everyone understands that any power given to any bureaucracy for any purpose can be stretched far beyond that purpose.
In a classic example of this process, the EPA has decided that, since milk contains oil, it has the authority to force farmers to comply with new regulations to file "emergency management" plans to show how they will cope with spilled milk, how farmers will train "first responders" and build "containment facilities" if there is a flood of spilled milk.
Since there is no free lunch, all of this is going to cost the farmers both money and time that could be going into farming-- and is likely to end up costing consumers higher prices for farm products.
It is going to cost the taxpayers money as well, since the EPA is going to have to hire people to inspect farms, inspect farmers' reports and prosecute farmers who don't jump through all the right hoops in the right order. All of this will be "creating jobs," even if the tax money removed from the private sector correspondingly reduces the jobs that can be created there.
Does anyone seriously believe that any farmer is going to spill enough milk to compare with the Exxon Valdez oil spill or the BP oil spill?
Do you envision people fleeing their homes, as a flood of milk comes pouring down the mountainside, threatening to wipe out the village below?
It doesn't matter. Once the words are in the law, it makes no difference what the realities are. The bureaucracy has every incentive to stretch the meaning of those words, in order to expand its empire....
Desperation just before the State of the Union Address? More revisionist history? Typical Leftist hypocrisy? In the final paragraph, Obama states:
When the future looked darkest and the way ahead seemed uncertain, President Reagan understood both the hardships we faced and the hopes we held for the future. He understood that it is always "Morning in America." That was his gift, and we remain forever grateful.

Indian politicians are known for making impromptu long speeches and perhaps that is why some parliament officials, who did not wish to be named, sounded rather surprised with the idea of a teleprompter for Obama.

In the name of environmentalism, Obama yesterday exerted federal control over America's Gulf of Mexico Region (from examiner.com Los Angeles):

Protection of residents in both Executive Orders seems to be lacking. Both are considered to be serious violations of property rights.
The Federal Government currently owns more than 30% of United States land and seems to be planning to take more....

NEW YORK (AP) — Comic book fans will soon be getting their first glimpse at an unlikely new superhero - a Muslim boy in a wheelchair with superpowers.
U.S. philanthropist and businessman Jay T. Snyder says he was inspired by President Barack Obama's effort to reach out to the Muslim world in his inaugural address.
Last month, Snyder flew 12 disabled Americans to Damascus to meet a group of disabled young Syrians. One of their main goals was to come up with ideas for the new superhero.
The superhero's appearance hasn't been finalized, but he definitely will be a Muslim boy in a wheelchair. An early sketch shows a boy who lost his legs in a landmine accident and later becomes the Silver Scorpion with the power to control metal with his mind.

And of course the correct quote, as is found written within the Declaration of Independence reads: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Listen for his "long pause" before he says, "endowed."
Maybe Obama wanted to say "endowed by Allah"? Heh. Never mind that Allah doesn't "endow" anything, much less equality or unalienable rights.
Quotas Hidden in Bank Reform Bill Will Cost Taxpayers Millions
Buried deep in the bowels of the massive financial-regulation bill the Senate passed Thursday are massive race- and gender-employment provisions that will cost countless millions to enforce and appear to duplicate other civil-rights initiatives already in place.

Section 342 of the bill calls for an "Office of Minority and Women Inclusion" to be established in each of 29 federal bureaus and offices.
The regulations appear to go beyond ensuring that discrimination in hiring decisions does not occur. Instead, they require assurance of "fair inclusion." [This provision] will pressure companies to find and hire minorities even if one hasn't applied for a specific job.
Barack Obama faces about the same problem that confronted Bill Clinton in 1994 when he lost control of Congress. In both cases, the Democratic presidents had alienated moderate and conservative voters and found themselves increasingly isolated with a political base of liberals and minorities. In each instance, the president worried that off-year election turnout among their base would be attenuated both because it always is in non-presidential years and because their policy failings had reduced the enthusiasm they found among their base voters. Much ado was made of Obama's warning health-insurance companies not to raise costs.
And I personally know of several people who supported ObamaKare because they believed that ObamaKare would help them to keep their children on the family's health-insurance plan until those children reach age twenty-six. Quite the attractive carrot for Obama's health-insurance reform, apparently.
It is among the top early selling points of the health-care overhaul -- a new rule that has particular appeal for middle-class, middle-age voters: Young adults who lack health insurance will soon be able to remain on their parents' plans until age 26.
But although Obama administration officials note that the provision will help millions, the benefit is proving less immediate than many families expect.
The administration's success in convincing dozens of insurers to comply with the provision earlier than the law requires has left many parents with the impression that their adult children will be eligible for continuing coverage far sooner than is likely to be the case, experts said.
